During a Brainstork session, each participant’s experience depends on the quality of their internet connection. If a participant’s connection becomes weak or unstable, Brainstork automatically adjusts the session to keep them connected.
How Brainstork Maintains the Session
When the system detects that a participant’s connection quality is deteriorating, it applies the following steps:
1. Video Quality Is Reduced
The system first lowers the video quality of other participants’ streams to reduce the amount of data required.
2. Audio Fallback Is Activated
If the connection continues to worsen, Brainstork activates the audio fallback feature. In this mode, video streams are paused and the participant continues in audio-only mode, which requires less bandwidth.
3. Automatic Reconnection
If the connection drops completely, Brainstork automatically attempts to reconnect the participant to the session.
Some users refer to this situation as the “ghost effect”, when a participant’s video disappears while the conversation continues. In most cases, this is caused by the audio fallback feature being activated.
Note
If a participant frequently switches to audio-only mode due to audio fallback, the most common cause is an unstable internet connection. Using a stronger Wi-Fi signal or a wired internet connection can help maintain a full video experience.
